Here is the only other car I have ever seen with copper plated trim.

That thing must have a 300'+ turning radius....

Great job Ctristian, and I'm happy to see the windows are back in the car !! did you use the U profil I already made for other cars ?
Is your original rear window in the car (because of the nice decal)

The car looks great! Can't wait to see the upholstery!

Photochopped... it kind of looks like a lowrider Mercury! I like it much better regular height. I also like the hubcaps you have!

Thanks for posting the new photos.

Ah, the Chrysler Thunderbolt. It was designed by Alex Tremulis, who later went on to design the 48'Tucker, another car that just happened to have a rear engine.

I loved this car when it was Lenny's, I love it even more now... It's as stunning as I always new it could/would be. Beautiful. :D

Lovely car 8)

Although I really like the blue colour of this coupé, I couldn't resist making a sepia version of it: Rometsch works photo anno 2010

If this car was originally Black with Red, why change the color?

Mike This is what Christian wrote : Hi Eric,
and the 1955 coupe we have was once owned by the actor Gregory Peck.
He got the car 1955 in black with red interior.
Bye Christian

He talked about the coupe of 55, not this one.
I am pretty sure they know what they are doing with the cars they own.
Restore them as new or even better. The color is probably found in some paperwork they have or it is an own taste.
Anyway, I like it. It suits well. 8)

Christian, Bjorn, Traugott,

I have been guessing that there is some sort of clearance issue at the rear fender skirts on the coupe... and that this is the reason why the rear hubcaps are not on the car yet...????

So I have been trying to think of ways to take the wheel inward just a little bit so that the hubcap will fit behind the fender skirt.

I think you are running stock VW Technik on the coupe and that the wheels are stock 16 inch VW.

1) I am wondering if there may be a difference between different VW rims such that some might allow the hubcap to sit closer to the brake drum by a few millimeters. I don't know the differences between Sudrad, Lemmerz, KPZ wheels... but maybe some are narrower in the hubcap area.

2) Maybe you could machine the brake drums back side a little bit... allowing the drum to fit just a bit tighter... a few mm.

3) then maybe you could machine the bearing surfaces where the rear wheel bearing sits against the axle housing...just a little... allowing a few more mm of clearance. This would also require different bearing covers on the outside of the brake backing plate though.

4) You could machine a couple of mm off the thickness of the brake backing plates?

Together... the above 4 things might gain you just enough room for the hubcap?

4) lastly... I suppose the fender skirt could be redone... with a tiny bit more "bulge" or curve to it.

I could be wrong altogether... Maybe the hubcaps are still at the chrome shop and will fit great! but I know that there is very little room in this area on my car... so I am just guessing there is a problem... and trying to figure out a solution.

Or perhaps it never had rear hubcaps originally?
