"What a Long Strange Trip" Wall Street Journal January 14 and 15, 2012. The claim is made by the author of a book titled "The Extraordinary Life of Josef Gantz" by Paul Schilperoord.

Basically the author presents evidence that Gantz, a Jewish Hungarian had the design taken from him because he wrote a magazine critical of the auto industry at the time and because he was Jewish.

I have not read or seen the book yet but the Wall Street article is interesting and well written.

This is a topic that is so wide and political that one can not make concrete claims about it, in my opinion.

The creation of a "concept" and the application of ideas into production are different, and this is where the argument ends, in my opinion. What could have happened and what did happen can not be directly compared.

Certainly, the story of this engineer is most fascinating. I think that this engineer must be remembered for his talent and above all commitment and desire to create a true people's car, even putting his own life at risk. What happened in those days was dirty. Very dirty. But I don't think that anybody can take away from Dr Porsche what he did in terms of putting all of the ideas of the time together into a production ready package, and also his work on the production side and researching mass production.

Take the Ganz designs and ask yourself if they would have still been in production until a few years ago...without any major changes...
