Hello
so i have a couple of these but i have no idea for what they are used
all i know is that it is a 311 part
EDIT ::::: I FOUND THE BOX AND IT IS NOT A 311 PART I MUST HAVE MADE A MISTAKE BUT STILL THANKS FOR THE INFO

Throttle Valve Switch (TVS) for Bosch D-Jet fuel injection. Looks like a '70/'71-vintage set (they changed through the years).

022 part number means that throttle switch is for a T-2 or T-4, not a T-3.

i think the part number on the box started with 311 i will check it out and post a pic of the part number

That is the correct part for the 68-69 Type 3 B series D Jet fuel injection system.

Or do you mean A/B?

0 280... type numbers are Bosch part numbers 311... type numbers ar VW part numbers. They are sometimes marked with both, sometimes either. Not sure about 022... type numbers.

There is some cross-pollination of sensor part numbers with A/B/C/D/E suffixes, so it can be confusing. If you go by the ECU part numbers, that is the basic "series" designation usually used. As you go through the years, individual sensor part numbers may or may not change is sync with the ECU letter changes.

The text below is for those who likes prose, not tables. It is summarized from an owner's homebrew FI guide:

The basic part number of the ECU is 311 906 021. The letter suffuxes are:

'68 - A
'69 - B
These are the "first generation" systems that used the separate pressure switch mounted on the right side intake air runners. The throttle valve switch had only two contacts.

'70 - C
'71 - D
This is the "second generation" system which deleted the pressure switch, integrating the function into the pressure sensor. The throttle valve switch grew to four contacts.

'72 - E
This is the "third generation", also referred to as the "smog" version since it had many changes related to more stringent smog laws for the year, especially in California. The function of the pressure switch was taken over by the new five-prong throttle valve switch.

Throttle valve switches (311 906 111) used the same letter suffixes as the ECUs.

Pressure sensors are shared within "generations" but not across them. Letters are B, C, and E, corrsponding to the ECU generations with those suffixes.

Head temp sensors are interchangeable across all.

The A/B ECUs are paired with the same crankcase temp sensors, while later C/D/E ECUs used a common intake air temp sensor instead of the crankcase sensor.

But there are some odd combos of ECUs with stickers requiring a specific temp sensor letter.
For those who like tables direcetly from VW, here is another look at it (not quite the same as the txt above--fewer letter types below):
