Hello,
I was having trouble starting my '82 pickup, and was experiencing a strange grinding sound when it tried to turn over.
I recently replaced the starter, and it started on the first try! Unfortunately, I may have hooked something up wrong because when I turned the lights on, EVERYTHING died.
Should there be only one cable running to the positive post on the starter? I (stupidly) did not mark the cables when I removed the original, and there was an extra cable hanging that I couldn't remember what to do with. I attached that cable to the starter, since it was very near the other cables and not attached to anything else.
Please help me understand how badly I have screwed up!
