Trying to get a comprehensive list of GVWRs for the syncros out there, here are the numbers I've been able to find so far:
Passenger Syncro: 5511lbs 2866/3042
Double Cab Syncro 16": 5285 lbs, 2640/2860
DoubleCab Syncro: 5500lbs 2860/3036
SingleCab Syncro: 5285lbs 2640/2860
SingelCab 2wd: 5270lbs 2425/2866
Syncro 16": 5512lbs
Chevy 1/2 ton: 6200 3900 front/ 3700 rear
Can someone look on their door to confirm the GVWR for the
single/double cabs/16"and the split front/rear? Been looking for awhile
and haven't found anything definitive.
Thanks, Tom |

| Just so everyone knows, the GVWR is the max the vehicle can legally weigh when it is fully loaded with bricks, rocks, steel recycling, your anchor collection, etc... The GVWR is not what the vehicle weighs when it is empty which is a common misconception I've found. Not that you, fairweather, stated or inferred that, just an FYI for "everyone". |

However I'm a little confused. The original VW badge has two weights: 2500kg and 4500kg. The GVWR should be the larger of those two right?
It's the importer's sticker that translates the GVWR to 2500kg or 5512 lbs. |

I'm pretty sure the correct GVWR is the 2500kg, not sure what 4500 kg would be.
The GVWR and GAWR (weight rating per axle) are both listed on my badge, the combined GAWR plus tongue capacity should equal the GVWR.
I have read about all the differences between the 14" and 16" trucks/vans but had never read anything referring to the payload so this is why I am trying to get some definitive numbers.
I have also read that generally the vans are referred to as 1/2 ton, the double cab trucks as 3/4 ton and the single cab trucks as 1 ton chassis so I wanted to see how that compared to a chevy or ford 1/2 ton, 3/4 and 1 ton.
The purpose being to see if I could realistically replace my work/plow truck with a syncro truck to reduce the clutter in the driveway.
Somebody out has to have a single cab syncro??? |

Ok, you've got me on that one, any pics?
The 2wd and syncro might be the same so can you look on the jamb decal?
Thanks, Tom |

To complete the info for 16", the separate numbers are the same as for 14" 2866/3042 |

Axle Load Limits (front/rear): 1100/1300 kg (2425/2866 lbs)
Payload limit: 995 kg (2200 lbs)
Gross Vehicle Weight: 2390 kg (5270 lbs)
Trailer Load (braked/unbraked): 1500/600 kg (3300/1325 lbs)
