I have 66 bus that I'm replacing rear cross brace on. I found a small rust hole behind the cross brace on both sides in the frame. I cut an opening 1.5"x3" and removed a lot of dirt from inside the frame. It must have been almost 2 inches deep.
My question is before I weld the patch back in there anything I can do to the inside of the frame while I have this small hole to slow down the rust? Should I weld the patch and then spray POR-15 in the hole where the wire harness enters and hope for the best? Or should I try sandblasting the inside and spraying with weld thru primer and then put the patch on? Either way I don't think I can clean up the inside of frame very well. |

| Should spray in/on liquid Rust-Prep or any similar Phosphoric Acid based rust converter before paint. |
