now that I have your attention,
I was playing Call of Duty: World at War the other night and as I was moving forward I noticed the VW just ahead... so I managed to take a couple pics and thought I would post them here and see if the makers did it right.
What ya think? what year model?
I was thinkin I could drop the gun and pick up an 13mm wrench and save the fenders and the seats look like a little Armor All could clean it up good.
thought some people might get a kick outta this, if its the wrong forum, please move to the right one. |

it's a fake.. has a later dash... something doesn't add up... what would a later dash do in a war game? pea shooters... and hmmm... front hood looks like the Holzbrenner....
but still... i'd roll it  |

Well, your '40 beetle is totally wrong. In fact, it's a mess...
- the taillights are not OK
- the dashboard has been updated to a post 58 model (strange as this is a vintage pic... Maybe a very early prototype???)
- it lacks vents under the split window. Maybe some tuning for very cold environments?
- I'm not sure the angles of the engine lid are square or round, hard to tell.
- not original upholstery
- running board with trim which looks stupid on a beetle
- 12 bolts truck wheels are aftermarket
- I'm not sure there were whitewalls as accessories at this time.
- The attempt at making it a beach car (which failed) by removing the top and windows only comes two decades after this...
Well, did you win??? :p
Julien
Edit : argh, been too long to write this... |

Why must everybody nit pick and criticize every video game car you see?! Its a GAME after all, fantasy, right? The software programmer made the car the way HE wanted it, it is HIS car. He should be able to do what he wants with it. Not every video game car has to be perfect. How many of you have perfect video game cars?
All this criticizing of video game scenery just makes you look bad.
 |

A WW2 documentation. They drove through Berlin and this car stood right at that place among other destroyed cars. I recorded it but do not know yet how to cut out the scene and post it. But it was amazing to see this well dicussed car in a motion picture. |

We're going about this all wrong. First, our friends from the Third Reich protrayed most anything they wanted to in their archive filming. Changes made and later altered for video game play should exemplify these distorted portrayals.
The real problem here: the car is much more accurately protrayed on a quality television! I mean, should we expect this to look right on a 46" 60hz. 720p Sanyo LCD? I mean really, and those shoes! Geeez! |
