Ok. So I put this engine in the car. It was rebuilt. I adjusted the valves. I rebuilt the carb. New plugs and wires. Dizzy points set. Timing set. Fuel mixture set.
This car revs really well...doesn't skip a beat. Except when it needs to idle. It comes down and will sit idling for about 10 seconds...then die.
Does anyone have any light to shed on life? |

Check it by disconnecting the wire to the solenoid while the key is in the on position. You should hear a distinctive click every time you connect and disconnect the wire. |

If the idle solenoid tests good you might have to check out the idle pilot jet...

When I rebuilt my 34PICT3 Bocar I had the same problem. I quickly found out I failed to do three things. I got ahead of myself and didn't use the 0.5mm/.020"needle seat gasket (brass, I believe) that was supplied with the kit. I also reused the needle seat assembly because the one supplied in the kit was too tall compared to the original. This may have had no impact on the operation of the carb but I wanted to go back to a point where I knew it had been operating OK. The next thing I did was find the sweet spot on the Auxiliary Idle Speed Fuel Jet located on the right side of the carb. It's the bigger of the two screws. Mine kept drifting IN and shutting off at idle so I resolved this by using enough teflon tape on the threads to make it tighter to turn. It took several tries to find the sweet spot but it's been a couple of months now and the BlueMaxx runs like an Ace.
All the info and tips I found were here on thesamba. Hope this helps.

| Yea. The idle solenoid is good. That was one of the first things I checked. I will go back through and recheck the carb for anything missing or fishy. |

| Ok. It idles. Well done. NOW! However. When I come down off of the throttle, it dies. If I just start it up, it will idle all day long. But it dies as soon as i gas it hard and come down. Am I running too rich/lean? |
