Does anyone know of an aftermarket gas cap that will fit a 86 Synchro vanagon?

I believe a 2wd will fit it but it is not correct. What I need to know is where I can get a new syncro gas cap.

I do believe the 2WD is too big on the outer rim to fit in the well. They have them:

2wd cap is too big, you may be able to grind it down to make it fit but it would be ugly.

Bus Boys has it for $56. Man that is high, why o why did I ever get into syncros, oh yeah, cuz they are syncros :shock:

Did you try a google search? I don't know who this is, but it came up for $19.95. Sometimes you'd be surprised what you can get at a good FLAPS too. It's worth calling around.

I thought that I had the correct cap on my syncro, but when I just checked the part num, I found out that I've got the 2wd cap on there. I just passed emissions last week and they do a seal check on the gas cap. FWIW, it hangs over a bit - I'll try to snap a pic tonight.

Sorry PDXWesty but the $20 cap is for a 2wd. Syncro caps are smaller in diameter and have a small flap that covers the key hole.
