I'd like to save this window crank.
I've never used JB Weld, but I was thinking of trying it, with some Brown Krylon Fusion as a chaser.
Can it be done? Any other magic tricks to try?

Why would you want to keep it when a new one is $1.99?JB weld is like $3.50 for a kit.

Well, that's a darn good point there, DP.
Only thing is that the aftermarket cranks are all black, and mine are brown. Of course, I'd have to paint the JB Weld anyway so, uh .... never mind.
Maybe the real question is, What is the Krylon Fusion color that best matches the vanagon window crank brown? I think I saw the answer to that somewhere, but I can't remember where. |

| Its called 'Satin Espresso'. Personally, I have been changing out all the brown to black. I think it looks better and it does not turn to 'crumble to dust.' |

| The handles from any vw product up to at least the mid 90's will fit, they dont look exactly the same but they do work just the same. Alot of Rabbits, and early Jettas also had brown interior parts. Presonally I like the Mk2 golf/jetta handles. good luck finding those in brown though. I've only seen those in 85's. |

I must say--this just kicked the word frugality up one notch.
Used brown window cranks are not part of, or not even included in the endangered species list yet--
Maybe next year--- |

I have brown window cranks handles from a MK-II golf/jetta (more brown interiored Golfs though)
they are slightly more 'modern' yet retain that FUNKtional 80s brown feeling.
*not my actuall crank handles. stock photo someone's rights are reserved.
I save them from all the cars I scrap and would send you a pair for shipping/time would even holiday wrap them if ya like.

Thanks Dan! I sent you a PM.
I understand and submit to that 80s brown vibe. Although I do agree with DogPilot on the virtues of black (having spent some formative adult years in black clothing NYC) the idea of changing over all brown interior components to black is a bit daunting for me at this time. |
