Anybody have experience with this linkage, and pics?? I'm considering buying it but would like some feedback before I do. Thanks DS

Never used it, but everything I have had from John at ACN has been good, he does not sell crap.

Yes I've always had good luck with the items I've gotten fron ACN. I'd just like to hear the real world experiences with this setup. I'd also like pics so I can see what I'm getting (there's no pic on the ACN website)!

Doug, it's probably the best solution I have found. It's the Scat universal linkage, and while it is simple and cheaply made, it works fine. The fact that it has heim joints helps with the slop factor you get with a lot of linkages. Beats the shit out of the standard Kadron Linkage. AJ sells a version too, that is modified to work with the stock Kadron arms.. he drills the ball studs out of the arms and uses this linkage with it, which simply gives better geometry than the scat arms give. Ratio can be an issue with some cables with limited motion. I actually fab linkage supplements to use with the Scat arms that shorten the throw, and give the right geometry. Simple triangle plate with screws that go through the Scat arm holes, and have the linkage hole shifted up and offset - you could make them at the shop in a second I am sure.

I have a scat linkage that I tried to install a few years ago that I got from AJ. I went back to the Berg linkage because it worked better!! I'm not sure if it is because I was trying to use the short kadron manifolds that bugpack was selling but I had fitment problems with the scat linkage.
Now what???

mharney Wed Nov 19, 2008 5:23 am

I guess it's Berg for you then. I haven't had any fitment problems beyond geometry with the linkage arms, but I haven't used short intakes.

i had the same geometry problems with my scat arms. the arms hit the throttle shaft well before wot. i fabbed new arms with a reindexed slot for the locating pin

Similiar problems with mine but some dude named Mark fabricated thingies to make them work correctly with the Scat linkage.

Hey I don't have any pics of those Daniel, can you post one up when you get a chance? I have none here right now.

I'll try to get a better photo up here - you can't hardly see in that pic.

That looks like the CSP linkage I have on my car

Well I ended up going back to the tall manifolds(stock kadron). I had to scrap the bugpack manifolds because they were honestly JUNK. I did'nt think of different arms. If they work I may reconsider running this set-up. The Berg linkage is such a contraption, and a PITA to get right. I'm just not excited about retuning the Kadrons with the Berg linkage that I'm willing to try something different.
So the arms are the issue with the scat linkage. I also seem to remember that the throttle cable needs to be shortened. Is this true with your set-ups??? I realize this is not really a big deal, but just wondering?

BTW I tried the scat linkage back in 2005. I've been driving it with the orig manifolds, and Berg linkage since then.
If I could get my hands on a set of different arms I give it another go!!

Hey did you get that craftsman combo I realized was yours? (I have one just like it and realized who the extra belonged to)

I used the Scat linkage on my last set of Kadrons with no binding or other problems...it was very smooth! I did have to add two return springs on the carbs...I used two old PICT-3 stock springs and drilled a small hole on the blank outlet on the carbs (for a ring fastener) :)

mharney Wed Nov 19, 2008 7:33 pm

Neil, binding wasn't so much the issue with Daniel's setup.. the issue was geometry, look at those arms at about 8:30 at rest. The added peices lengthened the moment a little to somewhere between the closer and farther holes, and also started out the motion closer to 7:30. You'd ideally want 6:00 about half way through the motion, which is close to what he gets now.

neil68 Wed Nov 19, 2008 9:04 pm

I can't figure out how he ended up with that...I used the Scat universal throttle plate and everything was fine. I've since sold the Kadron carbs/Scat linkage, so I'm going from memory...

Yeah the cable is a little long, I just pinch it on the cable with the barrel nut.

c.ruber Thu Nov 20, 2008 6:11 pm

OK I have my scat linkage on the way fron my old home in CA. I have an idea on the arms, so I'll have something else to work on!! Hopefully I get this thing running smoother than it is now. Thanks for the info, and inspiration

bartman Thu Nov 20, 2008 7:21 pm

instead of tightening the barrel nut directly onto the cable i stripped the insulation off of a pair of butt connectors and spread the seams with a little pocket phillips screwdriver that i hammered into the ends of the connectors. i placed the connectors onto the cable and crimped them shut. now the barrel nut tightens onto the front connector and the force from the throttle is transferred to the ferrule. nice and clean with no cable shortening, overtightening, or fraying

Where do the return springs belong with the scat linkage??
