Hello, I have a 88 Westy that I built a 2.1L wasserboxer for. I have everything together and dialed in, I broke in the motor for about 1k, now I have strapped a turbo to it.
I have everything working but I am having a problem with it loading up with gas. How can I reduce the amount of fuel going into the manifold?
I replaced the injectors with a new set of the Tomco ones (found on a link off the samba) Is there anyway to control the amount of fuel delivered?
also, the O2 sensor should notice the motor running rich and send something to the ECU telling it to slow down right?
Thanks any information would be greatly appreciated!

First off, if it's loading up with gas, you do not have it dialed in. 'Dialed in' usually means you have it running the way it should, or at least the way you'd like it to run. Secondly, no. The O2 sensor will only compensate for slight changes in mixture at cruise, unless you have an ECU which will allow you to dictate when closed loop mode goes into effect.

Which brings me to my next question: are you running a stock ECU? The ECU (in concert with the pressure regulator) is what controls the fuel output of the injectors. Therefore if you're having fuel issues, it's likely you need to either do some programming to the ECU you have, or get a standalone like Megasquirt.

Well everything was spot on while breaking in the engine for the first 1k. but now since adding the turbo, it is loading up.
AFM adjustment? I have never had to touch it, will it compensate for the added air flow?

a little info on the motor would help. what kinda computer, stock injection or aftermarket, what turbo, the normal stuff. i'm no guru on turbo's (see miniman he knows his shit) but i do know that if you built the motor to be n/a and then just added a turbo without changing some things, it's gonna be a nightmare!

well ok it has a "turbo" eagle cam crank cam from eagle too
the heads were new stainless heads built for turbo applications.
the turbo is a t3t4 hybrid new
the injectors are new, Tomco
the ecu is stock
....new O2 sensor, oil pressure etc.
the push rods were 1.9 new rods machined for a 2.1
what else can I answer?
thanks

You need to either have your stock ECU remapped, or get a programmable standalone. You can't just add a turbo to a car without some kind of tuning, and expect everything to be hunky dory.

As for stand alone ECU's I hear the most about Megasquirt. I have visited a couple of websites for them but still have a ton of questions. I put a spot on the forum site, but mostly how do you know what you do or do not need to have in your ECU? I have interest in the completed units but I am unsure how much modification I will need to do when I get it. Secondly If I build it on my own, do I have the tools to test it?

Well i never thought it would be as easy as plug and play. I am just working on it to the best of my ability. I appreciate all of those on this site who have been kind enough to give me their 2 cents of input.

www.megamanual.com

http://www.msextra.com/manuals/MS_Extra_Manual_Index.htm

Read those thorougly, very thorougly, for information about MegaSquirt.

www.sdsefi.com has some good general info as well as info about their own ECU.

You shouldn't attempt to drive your Bus on the stock ECU with the turbo.
