The squareback recently started to knock. Here is what I can tell you:
1. The knock is not always rhythmic, although it can be when slowing to a stop. (The knock slows with rpm)
2. The knock is intermittent
3. Only noticeable in lower gears
4. While cruising in 4th gear I could make the knock happen EVERY TIME by pushing in the clutch
Where should I be looking/worried about? Thanks |

| Check cv joints, stub axel shaft bearings in transaxel, loose flywheel gland nut. For the gland nut you have to pull the engine. Might even be just loose wheel lug nuts. Good Luck! |

Check the axle nut on the rear axle. 250 ft lbs.
Plus, don't back up to get the cotter pin in. If the hole doesn't line up, tighten to the next hole. |
