Don't want lectures on why, ok? Have a 69 that I am modding the dash, etc to look more like a 65 or so. Got some questions.

69 steering column has ignition, plastic housing and different mount. Is the column itself (outer tube) the same as an earlier style and are the splines for the wheel the same? Moving ignition switch to dash and will use earlier style turn signal switch. Thinking of using early column support and bolting to attachment bar from 69 column.

Now - steering wheel related - going for an early (40s) look and not limited to VW. Thinking Flat 4 banjo, but open to other ideas that wont be a real bear to adapt. Thanks in advance.

How about a Fridolin wheel? Like this from the gallery:

That would work - wonder what the diameter, what columns they fit and how hard to find....
