i have a middle seat from my 70 bay. Its got the fold down half back. it was tan when new. its in bad shape now. it now has a brown stain all over it from 40 years of use. the sides and back are still tan but the seat itself is not good. i tried simple green on it and it would not even begin to do anything. . . . .
any ideas? ill get a pic up soon. |

| I wouldn't use Purple Stuff type products as it will dull any shine the vinyl has left. Is the stain hard and crusty or sticky or what? |

| That brown doesn't come off with anything, clean it really well and use vinyl paint on it. |

What if you wanted to get rid of the vinyl paint from a P.O.? Like if they painted my brown seats baby blue...ew? I'm afraid my only option is to paint them once more with brown. |

was it spray paint or was it vynal paint?
vynal paint is made to chemically bond to the plastic and i dont think it would come off easily.
spray paint however will disolve with oven cleaner. having said that. . . . im not sure what oven cleaner will do to a vynal seat. |

Thats disappointing, I'm pretty sure it was vinyl paint. I guess I'll eventually paint them brown again. I would be ok with the blue except they didnt paint the back of the middle seat...guess they ran out of paint and were planing on painting it last because it was the least noticeable, I'm not sure. Thanks for the info. I may try the oven cleaner on an old worn and torn seat in a parts bus and see what happens in case it is spray paint. |
