1989 vanagon, 2 wheel drive.
Help.. can't find the part anywhere.. we are near Lexington, kentucky and can't find it online anywhere nor in local junkyards.
any suggestions would be helpful.

Where is it on the front or back. |

I don't know anything about a torsion rod, but if you need some help or tools, I live in Winchester. It's about 15 miles East of Lexington.

| front drivers side. we originally thought it was the steering rod, but it's a long metal rod that helps with the steering. |

You mean a tie rod?
the rod attached to the ball looking thing on the very right of the rotor that goes kinda straight back?
That part is pretty easy to get, so are the ends.
How did you break that? or did it just come apart? |

I think he might be talking about the strut or radius bar. Does it go from a mount up front to the bottom of the lower control arm?
