at an idle in neutral does it make noise or get quieter when you push the clutch in?
Everything on mine is noisy from the throwout bearing to the gears and I now know what every different noise sounds like. |

| You sure it's in the tranny and not elsewhere? Like wheel bearings etc. The mainshaft bearing requires a small press to remove and you'd need a tranny jig to re-assemble the tranny, basically almost the whole transmission has to come apart. |

X2
You'll have to pull the tranny and swap out for a rebuilt one. and transfer your axles onto it. It's involved but if I could do it... Get the Bug-me video on tranny replacement, it walked me right through it.
Good luck,

| My rail buggy had a noise in the tranny .A constant whine that was there from the time yhat I finished building the rail I first thought it could be because of the transmission and engine were solid mounted .After about 1500 miles I changed tranny oil and found some metal shavings on the drain plug nothing severe But worth keeping an eye on. after another 300 miles checked drain plog more shavings.Pulled the tranny removed nose cone and found the the main shaft bearing had been turning in the case and thus had worn a wide groove in the nose cone.. Replaced the tranny and now it is a pleasure to drive No Noise I can actually talk to my passengers now.. I might add that the tranny never broke down or left me stranded ..................
