| I have a 62 rag top with the front having been hit at least once if not more, I also have a 66 bug that was rolled years ago with a perfect, rust free clip, so the question is this: are there any noticable differences between a 62 clip and a 66 clip? I have done this operation on several later cars but since this is a ragtop, I want to do "correctly", will this look correct? |

wow what a great answer! IMO the only correct way to do it is to put the correct year clip on there! but that's just me |

| I can't think of any differences in the clip itself 62 -> 66. The hood and fenders, of course, are different. |

yes, I know that the hood and fenders are different, I think the hood is one of the more difficult things to get...flat area under the vw emblem!
For research perposes,in looking for a new replacement front apron, its the "same" for a long time. I know that it would work, but I am not sure if it would be the same visually.
Finding an exact year clip will be near impossible, I think. If another 46 year old car is still out there with a good ,rust free clip, I wouldn't want to chop it up anyway. The 66 that I have was rolled in the late eighties and sat in a field after that. Its too far gone to fix, plus I already own it!
So if it is visually the same, it seem like a no brainer to me. |
