| If you were going to buy a new engine and tranny what would you go with? I like the 2180cc. But as far as companies I have no idea what would be a good choice. I can't afford a Berg 5 speed so what are my other options. Go easy, I'm on a budget. |

| It's not a daily driver but it might turn out to be one. I was also thinking the 1835 or 1910. I just want it to be smooth, powerful, reliable and not have to adjust something everyday. |

If it were me, I would buy a well built and counterbalanced 1776 with some small dual carbs.
In a beetle it should be pretty peppy and should go up Parley's Canyon in 4th with the stock tranny and still get decent fuel economy.
Driving a beelte is sort of like having sex. It is not the first one done that wins. |
