| How long will german woven fuel hose last, or better yet. how many months before you would change it again. Obviously if you did not see any leaks prior to the change, thanks jl |

I've used the OEM German fuel hose for many years...it rarely leaks. However, you really have to check it, based upon the abuse your vehicle takes-ie. off-road vs. street, etc.
An annual inspection is a good idea with anything fuel related :) |

I just replace the lines every year, no matter how they "look".

I bought some and a year later it was brittle and falling apart, you just don't get quality these days, I do a once a year check. :?
I use non braided stuff these days easier ti visually inspect every time I open the engine lid. |

The problem is there is german hose made by CRP and there is brazil hose that looks just like the german hose but it is complete crap.
alot of shops sell the cheap crap at german prices. so beware |

| See if you can find a '30R7' spec on the layline of the hose, or on a label some where. True fuel hose will have this spec on it. |

I've been using this kind with the orange lettering shown below on it for a while now with no major issues. A friend of mine told me he had some just like it though, that went bad rapidly, so I've had kept an eye on mine, but no big issues. I find though, that in my dry climate, if I use hose clamps on this kind of hose, like I do on my Baja bug, they will dry crack fairly rapidly. I don't use clamps on my 62 bug and those hoses last a lot longer.

| I'm not a fan of cloth or ss braided hose in an off road application. The dirt gets in the weave, and can chafe the hose/tubing under it. Just my personal preferrence. |

That's a good point that I would have never considered. |

| I would say it's more of an issue with the SS braided hose than cloth, but it's still somethign to think about. |

5.5MM? I thought they were 5.0MM? At least that's what I bought from Airhead and installed on my car. They fit quite nice and don't feel like they need clamps. I just looked in the Airhead catalog and they don't show 5.5MM, only 5.0MM. The hose is marked 5.0MM, too.
What gives? |

| I can't say that I've ever had any "dirt-chafing" issues on my Baja bug with cloth-braided hose. The only issues I've had are dry-rotting. |

I don't change all the hose every year but I have had a number of pieces of hose look bad within a year so I swapped them out.
There is definitely some sort of quality difference because I have some hose that looks perfect after a few years and some that is all cracked within a year. |

the german stuff is grayish looking, the Brazilian is black. Do NOT use the Black cloth braided hose, it sucks.
