| I'm trying to figure out what tires to buy and I'm leaning toward BFG ATs or the General Grabber AT2 215/75R15. If I go with these, I'll probably have to buy Go Westy's springs. Will this combo still fit in a standard garage door? |

Figure on 18.5" hub to front fender lip & what i figure as a 27.7 diameter tire so 32.5" floor to fender lip (on the safe side). You didn't mention westy or van so the rest is up to you & your garage door!
Good luck, GW springs are sweet, even with the alignment issues. |

Funny thing about Vanagons and garages... they can be changed. When I put BFG TA KOs (15 x 75) and new springs and shocks on my Syncro, I was about 1.5" short getting in my garage. So I pulled off the trim board over the garage opening thinking that the header would be right under the trim, but there was a 2" piece of redwood nailed to the header...bingo! I took down the piece of redwood and put up a new and thinner piece of trim and now I have about 3/4" clearance at the rear of the poptop. Woo-hoo.
Check the way the header is made and the trim is setup and you might find a solution.

"Standard"?
I'm not sure there is such a thing in the UBC.. and if there was I wouldn't trust every garage to be that particular height.
Most commercial parking garages, as an example, have some type of warning hanger.. "if your car hits it, it will likely hit a concrete structural bit upon entering and rip the crap out of the top of your vehicle"
My stock height 89 Westy fits under my 1933 garage door by about 6 inches. It does not, howver fit in the parking structure at the Kaiser hospital center that I visit once or twice a year. I still have the scratches on my vent hatch to show for it. |

Unlikely. I have such combo and I have a hard time every year to store it for winter. It does not fit in most garage doors.

| My stock '84 Westy does not fit into my stock garage. The clearance is 6'8'' and I need 7''. To do repairs in the comfort of dryness and heat I deflate the tires to about 5 psi and drive it in. |

| Thanks for the replies. This gives me an idea of what I need to measure. It sounds like I might be keeping it at stock height for now. |
