i was looking around and i found a crankshaft with connecting rods all together ... these didnt seem normal though. the bearings in between the crank and rods where actual ball like bearings. not like the spacer type bearings. what are they and where can they be found?

Sounds like the old SPG roller cranks used for Industrial engine that normally turn 1500RPMs constant. The bearings have to be modified for oiling in a street engine.

Stay away from it and get a normal set up. The SPG's are indexed, then welded so they will not move as they are a multi part crank with one piece rods, much like a jap bike.

ok good to know... almost thought it was an improvement!

apparently these things were prone to detonating your engine cause they couldnt slow themselves down when they got wound up. I still think one of these babies in the right motor would be awesome! I would be like a snowmobile engine.

not too sure about that....I had the 82mm SPG in a 11:1CR 2110 and it had the same manners as normal CW crank. The down fall was revs had to stay up for oiling and the welding required after crank index wasn't ground enough and eventually touched the bearings, POOF! Best part of that failure was the one piece rod and 2200RPMS cruise. The rod never left the crank. I had the large cow magnet and all the bearings flocked to it. I was only out one crank/rods and one piston had very minor chip on skirt. The rest survived and even the k8 looked happy.

Never again. I bought a 69 Baja with the mentioned 2110 in it, very stout and loads of fun, but I should have listened to Turbo Don and switched the crank out immediately.
