Hey guys.. maybe some of you know where to find this info. I searched an only came up with a type 3 manual.
I've got a 67' Beetle which i am installing a B2 gas heater in. This car has never had a heater in it before so i am starting from scratch. I purchased a good COMPLETE heater to start with but i have no idea where to drill the holes.. a pretty good idea how to wire it but no idea where all of the lines go. I've been meticulously studying photo's but that can only get you so far. Can anyone help?

You say you've been looking at photos, but, have you found and looked through the various gas heater manuals archived on theSamba to see if any of them are close to what you have? They are listed here:

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I have taken a look at that and nothing close to mine is listed. Its a B2 that came out of a stock 68' Canadian beetle. It should look like this when its installed.

| I have been thinking of installing one of these, how safe are they? Are there any safety precautions for using these? |

So no one has any kind of mounting diagram? I contacted all of the "heater guys" and they all said "i have all of them but this one"
Can anyone take a picture of the stock holes for their b2? Make me a template? I'll pay....
Thanks guys!

Here is a link you should use:
http://classicvw.org/eberspacher/install/cover.jpg
This I found here on Samba. It is a page for page copy of installation on type 3. Should work out for type 1. Also check out www.germansupply.com. They sell replacement parts for the B2. Use the net, it is a wonderful tool.

Nope... doesn't work.
I called German supply and they said "the mounting template doesn't exist" because it was a factory mounted heater, they never needed repair shops to need to install them.
I've been told by one person to just "eye it up" but i really want to get a correct hole template so i don't drill in the wrong place.
Like i said, i would pay someone for their time to take a heater out and copy the hole locations on a sheet of paper.

| Corey, from that photo above it seems like you could take careful measurements and make the holes you need. Please take pics if you do it that way and post them for reference. :) |

Yea... I'm thinking of that as a last resort. But i mean.. there has to be someone out there that has one out of a car though winter time restraints might make it not possible to wait to find them.

| so the templates that are included in the link I sent you won't work? The manual said to use them to locate the holes for the unit. |

Completely useless links. Those are for TYPE 3s, not Beetles. And they are for a completely different BN-2 heater, not a B-2. |

Okay, I may be wrong, but the picture with the unit installed looks like a "Super Beetle". The reason I say that is that the hole in the trunk, that looks down towards the steering shaft doesn't exist in my '67, and the steering shaft itself is a '68 & later collapsable one. That was only added to the post '67 Beetles, and probably only those bound for North America.
You might want to post this in the forum for those Beetles. |

| Thats not a super. The hole is where the tank would go. And Im pretty sure that that is not his car as he said he is looking for a mounting diagram for it leading me to believe that his isnt mounted in his car yet. |

I was just using that picture as a reference to the type of heater it is. Thanks everyone for taking a look at this post. I'm sure it will help more than one person if it is found or made.

| I have a B2 installed in my 65, if you would like I can go out and take some pics, let me know any specifics you need, or if just closeups of the "hole" parts will do. |
