Sean, I was diagnosing today, it cranks but doesn't want to start.
It has fuel @ carb, and spark (at least on the wires, I didn't take the plugs out yet).
Bad news is, once I pulled off the valve covers, I noticed that one of the studs holding the rockers for #2 is snapped, I can;t imagine that one without compression would cause the issue but who knows. The rest of the rockers are adjusted fine...
I'll probably pull the plugs tomorrow and check them. I hope it's not a carb issue, time-wise. The stud is a crappy situation, but I can just get a replacement for it and put it on.
I have a friend with AAA (I should really have it myself), he said he may be free late this week to stop over and use his card/info to get it towed there, we'll see... Unfortunately he's not available until Friday, and we're moving sat/sun. Wish me AAA luck. |

| The snapped stud shouldn't be too bad. If its higher than the pad channel locks should get it. If not center punch and drill carefully. Most of the time they aren't bottomed out. Put a fresh setof NGK's it , check the points and it should fire. |

Yeh I figured it'd be fairly easy to replace it. Problem is that I need to move this thing before this coming Saturday, and between finishing packing, waiting for the stud to be shipped, etc... Moving is stressful enough y'know. With the stud/rocker issue I'm hesitant to drive it even the 4 miles if I CAN get it to start... Mainly I am afraid of the other stud on that side getting messed up, since there is nothing holding down the snapped side of it. Once I have it at the new place there will be pleeeenty of room to get stuff done on it. |

Those guys do a better job explaining how it works. I can tell you how to adjust it, and have. They tell you why. |

Made some progress on Mike's engine today.
It's a longblock... Mocked up the tin a little to check the fit before powder coating..

You must be one of the lucky ones with Electric today. I spent most of the day in Shannandale and Mountain Mission.
Looks good, How did you clean the case? |

Yes we have power. Last night we had no ac upstairs. Had to call around this morning and find someone who would come on a Saturday.
Cleaned it with purple power and my pressure washer. I was surprised how clean it came. Used a scotch brite pad on the sealing surfaces. |

I wasn't by there. We have a tower about 1 mile north of 9 and 1 mile south of 9 near the river. Not many whole trees down, but lots of broken limbs taking down power lines. Unless there were limbs right over the house, it is probably ok. Charlestown to Martinsburg got the worst of it. |

| What is so rare about a '68 bay window with a GEX engine? |

| Nothing. Except the fact that Dwayne, who traded Jeff's Fastback for a really nice Oval showrd up at McDonald's once and told us he knew where there was an early 60s Bus for sale and it was only a few minutes away. About 6 or 7 of us follow him for a good half hour, and at the end of the trip, this was what we saw. An over priced crappy Bay Window with a GEX engine in it. |

| So why didn't he at least remove the gigantic "GEX" sticker from the fan shroud? |

| Therein lies the problem. He was proud of his new GEX engine. I've had only one GEX experience. My dad put a GEX engine in my car in 86 when they were still based in Baldwin Park CA. It ran for 16 miles. |
