| Got a stupid alt. question for you gurus out there. My dune buggy has a reman engine w/ an alt. But I cant seem to find a regulator for the damn thing. Its got a circle on top with 3 male prongs sticking out & a stud to the side of the circle. My local auto parts place (adavance auto) can only get regulators that are square & have male prongs in them! Gggrrr! So what do I need? This is really aggervating as this seems to be whats keeping me from getting the engine running. Oh, and since its a remanned engine, I have able to find out absolutely zilch. Please tell me what I need before I do something really stupid. |

You have a AL78 like this:
It uses an external regulator that is wired via a harness and not directly wired.

| The one I have is similar to that one, but not the same.Theres no B+ terminal @ the front. The numbers I got off the alt. are: 043 903 023 and then 8al2034k. Do these help or make any difference? |

I had the same problem, I went from a generator to a external regulated alt.
My b+ post is beside the three spades, not in front of it.
