Hey guys, finally got my passenger-side brakes done, I've "moved" over to the drivers side...and the bolts holding the wheels on are stuck! I've used penetration oil, heating it, breaker bars, everything! My buddy and I managed to break 4 ratchets, and a tire iron trying to get the damn things to move at all! Any suggestions?! Im lost and getting to the point where im burnt out..
Thanks guy |

| Get an impact wrench with a 250 ft lb rating. It should take it right off. They now make corded and cordless impact wrenches. Also, make sure youre going the right way. Not to be insulting of your intelligence or anything as I find myself doing this often enough. |

I had the exact same thing happen to me on both my back wheels. And as suggested I had to use a big impact-wrench. |

| Use craftsman tools, and a big breaker bar, like a 4' jack handle, thats what I use. |

| I have broken three craftsman breaker bars before. Yeah, they are warranted but it sucks when you break them. |

Yeah lol, i made sure im going the right way, and I have a buddy bringing over an electric impact wrench, but i have doubts about it being strong enough, and im hoping lefty loosey righty tighty still applies? |

if your buddy's impact doesnt work. take the wheel and drum off together or drag the car to a tire shop. they have big air and it will come off or break. could be an excuse to buy some new tools. |

Alright I'll see what i can do, I have one side done, and with this side being done, I can go ahead and work on getting it to run, but this happened, anyone know how many pounds an electric impact puts out? |

Either that or just cut the bolt off and put a new one one.

I had the same problem on my car when I bought it. My compressor only goes to 125 lbs feet. My buddy has an excavating business and is repairing big equipment all of the time. He has a big compressor like you would find in a repair shop.
It took 300 lb ft of pressure to crack them loose! |

| Get a 99 cent or free tire rotation...or your weight, with a heavy big pipe over your breaker bar should generate about 400 ft-lbs |

Are they the lug nuts or the axle nut you are having problems with?

Yes, this can be done. But I'd guess that if you're having trouble with the lug bolts, then the big 36mm drum retaining castle nut will be tougher. In any case, all those are right-hand threads. The front drum nuts have left hand thread on driver side. |

| So....The rear driver is counter clockwise..or clockwise to loosen it?..if ive been doing this wrong....then im a dumb ass and broke 4 wrenches, and i broke the breaker bar to remove the axel nut |

As you look at it: counter-clockwise to loosen it. And same to loosen the lug bolts
Right-hand threads means clockwise to tighten it. |

Yeah ok I got that part down, but last night, while trying to get the huge axel nut on the rear drivers side....and it shattered at the socket......How much are breaker bars....im starting to wonder if this was a mistake.... :?: |
