I'm sure this has been hashed out a thousand times, but search is failing me. I'm replacing the alternator on my '73 Ghia, and going internally regulated. Right now I have a big white plug with several connections and a stud with a large red wire. The three wires in the plug go of to the Motorola external regulator. The new alternator has a large stud, and a smaller spade terminal. Do I just move the heavy red wire from one stud to the other? Will all of the wires going to the regulator be removed? What does the small spade connect to? Are there any freely available instructions?

Basically you have to re wire it to bypass the former external regulator.
Your correct there are TONS of threads on this... try limiting your search to one forum at a time...

Here is the diagram. Props to "Speedy Jim" :D
