Is Cali law based on the year of the car or the engine? Lots of '75's were converted over to carb or have earlier engines in them. |

My bad, I thought it was '73 and earlier, maybe it was '75 and earlier. It's been a few years since I lived in Cali.

it used to be a rolling 30 years law but i think it changed
heres what dmv site says now
Smog inspections are required unless your vehicle is:
Hybrid
1975 year model or older
Diesel powered
Electric
Natural gas powered and has a Gross Vehicle Weight rating of 14,001 lbs. or more.
Motorcycle
Trailer
so yeah it is exempt |
