Can anybody recomend a decent headliner for a 74 bug. It will be my first attempt at a headliner so I dont want a POS but at the same time dont want to break the bank.

I used Sewfine and was very happy. I think lots of people use TMI also.

Just don't look for the cheapest one you can find and I'm sure it'll work out great. I used one from socal imports and it fit just fine.

I used TMI and had no problems.

anybody got any glue recomends? Contact cement does not allow for any working time and I would like a little.

Contact cement will do fine if u get the type that has NO acetone in its mix, this softens the plastic part of liner materials and will come unstuck, try an upholstery shop to get a brand name. 3-M makes an ok glue.

I don't remember the brand that I used... Permatex maybe, but it was in a spray can and was specifically for headliners. Got it at the FLAPS. Worked pretty good, nice and sticky but didn't totally cure for a hours. I was able to pull a few areas that didn't look right after about 10 minutes and restick them.

3M Super Trim Adhesive Part # 051135-08090.
Very high tack and, most important, very high heat resistence.

Comes in a spray can with black and red letters. Does not require a
heavy coat.

This has acetone in it. Doesn't work, it'll pull off the next day. I used DAP contact cement and it worked great. I could adjust sections if I needed to as well.
