From another thread, there is this picture of the underside of a KDF or more likely, a Kubelwagen, and I am puzzled by the transmission...shouldn't the join with the engine be visible? And why does the bottom of the engine look like a round disk?

| To me that looks more like a deceased Kubel and those strange contraptions more likely are skidplates that protect front suspension and gearbox/engine. |

| Neat photo. The drain plugs show clearly towrds the front of the chassis that its a kubel pan. I don't see reduction boxes though. :? |

What is the cover over half of the rear seat? Canvas or metal?
Wonder what it is for? Is it a radio car? What is the tactical sign?

I don't know any of that, but my guess would be radio car too. I've heard they out-fitted a lot of kübels as maintanence vehicles also with simililar compartments made in the rear seat area.
I wouldn't recommend smoking with all that sign of spilled fuel on the scuttle deck! :shock:
