I doing research on some part so help if you can.
Am looking at the front disc conversion kit with drop spindles from so cal and what i understand is that this kit will kick the wheels out 1/2 in. And the wheels I have are the knock off empi 8 spokes I see alot of guys running the 5 spokes. Is there a diference in the offset in the 2 wheels. In trying to avoid a narrowed beam do to money issues. Basicly i want the wheels to sit in the wells a litlle and not have rubbing issues. does anyone have any suggestions. |

I cant give you specifics because I dont have any but there is no way the wheels will tuck without narrowing the beam. Here is a pic of one of my old bugs without a narrowed beam and lowered a bit, it also has drums up front.
Dont remember the wheel size but they were skinny and that was as low as I could go. Im hip to the money issues but take your time so you dont have to do the whole thing again later on. I started with the beam on my car about 3 1/2 months ago and it wont be done for another month for the same reason, money. I will have to look some more but I thought that the minimum offset on a kit like that was 3/4 each side... |

| Thats a 1/2" per side, by lowering its going to cause the tire to be out and closer to where the fenders curve more. This is a possibility of rubbing something. In my opinion when you start changing something, it has an effect somewhere. I would go with at least a 2"-3" narrow beam. A 2" narrow beam should fit without having to cut into the wheel well. My .02 :) |

I think with the wheels you have and a disc brake kit, you will run into some rubbing issues.
I did see a ghia at one of the junk yards on the south west side of town a few weeks back. If it is still there, it has everything you need to switch over with stock stuff providing your car is ball joint. |
