I really like the new Thing we now own. Just got the new top on this week and will get the curtains taken care of soon, so it will be more weatherproof. But it just seems to be one goofy Thing thing after another.

Now, my blinkers and flashers have quit. The relay is doing the proper clicking as if they are all working. But all of the bulbs have quit. I thought perhaps the blinker switch, but apparently it's getting info to the whatever is clicking (relay?). Just nothing gets to any of the blinkers and the emergency flashers do the same thing. The signal flasher on the speedo doesn't flash either.

Seems like it all must be related since they are all fused separately. It's not as if one fuse went bad, or one bulb went out. They all quit at the same time. Does that mean that the relay has input, but no output?

When we got it a couple of months ago, we had random blinker problems, but replaced a few fuses, cleaned up some bulbs, and then they all worked.

I don't see anything weird or loose in the fuse box area.

Any quick thoughts? I know blinker issues have been beat to death, but I must revisit.

Will have to revisit random oil leaks another post. Fix one, another leaks, etc. Later.

The relay clicks but nothing, not even the dash lights up? That's a weird one.... Well for troubleshooting, you can bypass the relay entirely by connecting terminals 49 and 49a together - then the blinkers will come on, and stay on, immediately once you flip the turn signals switch with the ignition switch on. Or, all 4 lights will come on if you pull out the E-flasher switch.

Had similar issues when I bought my 1974 Thing this year. Disconnected battery and cleaned terminals and grounds...replaced ground strap.....Took out every fuse, sprayed WD 40 on entire fuse panel quite liberally, wiped down.....used emery cloth, or, really fine sandpaper on every terminal in the fuse box, bent prongs in, then, replaced all fuses with brand new ones!

Radio that I thought that was shot suddenly came on full power....wipers worked flawlessly where previously they were hit and miss...Random blinker problems resolved....lights were brighter.....still had to do the headlight relay and still cannot get my bright lights to work :( , but, that fixed many of my issues. recently, my wipers stopped working on the fast mode.....gonna try to crack that open and see if I can address that issue in the next couple of weeks.
