Some may remember a couple months back I was having some ignition problems. Well, as promised I wanted to tell all those interested what the problem turned out to be. "Busdaddy" was the closest as it was connected to the "little black wire" that goes from the ignition to the positive terminal on the coil. However that is not the end of it. As it turns out, the electric choke had grounded itself out. And, as you know, that is also connected to the pos. on the coil. (yes, wires got hot) I haven't torn into the carb yet, but suspect the bi-metal choke spring broke and has grounded itself on the carb. I Could have saved a lot of anguish and a tow bill by simply unplugging the elec choke! Wacky! Thanks for the support and help. Jon

Thanks for the update Jon, I would have never guessed a shorted choke coil, WOW, all the symptoms but from the least likely suspect, good to know!

That's why I post here, helpings fun, but I really like to learn new things too. Try to find your old post and add a link to this one or vice-versa so others can find the answers if/when they hopefully use the search.
