What cranks use type 4 center bearing? I'm looking for a 82.

The main bearings on the type 4 Vanagon engine you mean? There were two different stroke cranks for the type 4, but both used the same engine, so any type 4 engine from 1972-mid 1983 on Transporters (and 68-74 on Type 4) will use those same bearings. Type 1 engines are different. (5mm smaller on bearings #1,2 and 3, although I think #4 is similar or possibly the same)

I should have been more clear. I need a type 1 crank with type 4 ctr. bearing. My case has been cut for the larger bearing.

Yeah, you should be specific in your questions! but..... I'm sorry, I can't answer that one.

DPR, and Demello can make you a welded 82 stroke dowel pin crank with the center main a type 4. Other than that, the only forged crank with the center main that's a dowel pin crank that I know of is from Scat. The common flanged cranks from Scat, and Bugpack either have a type 4 center, or all type 4 journals. If your looking for a Scat dowel pin crank, they've recently redesigned their line to offer Billet only cranks, and an 82 stroke will run you about $1450.

Call Jose at DPR. He just made my crank. It's an 88MM type 4 center, porsche rod, wedgemated, 8 dowel 8MM, german 12.5 LB flywheel & I had him balance the pressure plate with the crank & flywheel. He starts with a 1500 non-cross drilled crank. Mine is a real work of art. It should be running again soon. It cost me $840.00 for everything.
