I am currently fitting my CE safaris.
Has anyone used anything other than silicon to seal the hinge of their safaris to the bus to prevent water sitting there?
I am fitting mine using the original VW method with the captive nut plate in the the window frame, VW used some sealing tape which I don't think was sticky to prevent water getting in.
I don't want to use silicon as I know it will be a pain to remove the windows when I come to repaint my bus.....
I will phone Dave to see if he can suggest anything at some point but just wondered if anyone else had a bright idea that they used and found to work well.
Regards

| i used some type of polyurathane goo that stays flexible.... but it is not like silicone. it is black and worked very well. I actually had to remove one of my safaris once installed, and it looked like it would have sanded off fine. |

I had a huge problem fitting the C.E. safaris in my '58 singlecab.
If you have an early bus (61 and older) you may find that a seal between the body and hinge is not an option. |

Paul_F;
no idea how CE safari hinges are....
OG ones have counter sunk holes and use counter sunk fine thread screws-threaded plate inside upper windshiled frame.
Here is a pic of a pearl white OG pair of safari's without the cloth tape.
Also a Turq OG pair of safari's with the OG cloth/clay tape still in place.

I hope that might help. |

The Creative windows can be installed the same way as OG ones, and this is the way I wanted to do it (you have to specifically ask for the parts)
Still haven't got round to speaking to Dave Palmer, but I will try to make time today.....
The cloth/clay tape looks good, but no idea where I could get some from????
So is door rubber gasket adhesive this polyurathane goo then? Got any brand names I should look for? Something like sikaflex?? - though I think that is for bonding on panels to cars, and I think that would make it very difficult to remove the safaris.
Thanks
