hey ido great build, i would suggest some padding on your trans straps, they sell it, it fits between the straps and the trans, it cuts down on the vibration, also a small thing i think your car would look better without the white letters on your tires facing out, they always get scrathched up when there out so you might as well turn them now

SpenceSuper11 Fri Dec 19, 2008 12:42 pm

I personaly have always liked the white lettering, but hey, to every man his own.

59type2vw, thank you, it's goor to hear that.

TIMMA and BugMan114, about the galvanized. it just was some points of welding, now i'll need to take this plates off the car, to grind the galvanized coating down and welding it, after that i will take it place again and weld it to the body.

i made my own padding useing a rubber hose, i read that you have had some problems getting the right parts, i would try and stick with one dealer beacuse you are so far away, but still compare prices, some shops charge alot for some parts, i use my hot vw magazine to compare prices most shops will meet the other dealers prices

we're waiting for the engine parts (engine adapter, flywheel, clutch parts) and the rear fox shocks, to continue with the work and to bolt the engine on the car.

Nice Build! You have great skills!

How much higher does the shift shaft sit on the bus trans compared to the stock bug trans?

How far back did you drill you holse for the front trans. strap?

Thank You!!

KJ

What a great build! Rather than buy a pad for your transmission strap, you could just cut a section out of an old tire. All your trying to do is reduce the amount of vibration being transferred to the rest of the car through the solid trans mounts.

And definitely weld the holes you drilled through the frog legs for the middle trans strap. If you don't weld the holes, they have a tendency to crack the wishbone causing the engine to sag down.

Where are you planning to mount your radiator?

Hi,

we decided to try finished the baja until Aug 12, the memorial day of Sasha.
to succeed with that we are doing a one big delivery of parts that the most of the parts will be in this shipping.

now we're seaching for a arms straps, to limit the limit the suspension and keep on the coilover safty.

the front suspension is linkpin 6" wider with 3/4 inch more wider and 1.5 inche more longer arms, and the front shocks are fox 2.0 with 10" trevel coilovers.

the rear suspension is 3x3 arms with 930 cv's and coilover spring plates and the shocks are fox 2.0 with 14" trevel coilovers.

i need the lenght of the straps that will be the best to work with my front & rear suspension.
please anwer only if sure about it.

thank you,
Ido.

Each vehicle is a little different. Figure out where you can mount them. They need to stop the suspension form reaching its last inch of travel. The adjustable clevies can help you get more adjustment as they stretch .

some of the last job on our baja.
in the last week I made a new top shock mounts, it's from 4mm of metal and the front cage tubes are 1-1/4" with 3.25mm thickness so it's very strong.

the shocks are in slope of 74 degrees. is it fine?

Thank's for the replies,
I'll upload more pics when the rollcage will be in work.

i dont want to bring you down here, those shock mounts you made look sweet but . . . you want to make sure that the shock is 90 degrees from the trailing arm at full compression. meaning they probably need to get moved forward. especially because they are coil overs, which means the entirety of the front suspension is going to be dependent on the coil over mounting position.

here is a rough example.

Hi Everyone!

I'm back to work on the baja after few weeks. meanwhile, few parts arrived from far away, USA.
