Hey guys, I have a question? I am in the middle of two more wagons, One on its way to a VW dealership in Northern California, The other on its way to spain!! Pretty excited about them both.
As i have been building these, I have been speeking with a company that specializes in Fiberglass.
What is your imput on having the body made from fiberglass? I know steel is better but there is alot of time needed to make them smooth enough to paint. I would continue to use my steel frame, painted bumpers, and handle, So they would look identical, and another pro is would they would be much lighter for the shipping end.
So chime up, with your imput please? I need to know should i spend the money on the tooling work and have the glass company get started, or keep pluging along and welding them up. I COULD DO BOTH i guess, if someone wanted a steel one?
Thanks all for your imput and time Later JEFF

What would the price difference be if they were fiberglass?

oldoval Fri Mar 05, 2010 10:37 am

I am working on the numbers for the exact price, but I am thinking about $75 to $100 less? we will see, I am talking to the glass company, We are working on a plan for a mold that would have the V portion and the body line down the side, alllready molded in, so it would look allittle more bus like? what do you think? Good? bad? I appreciate your imput. thanks JEFF

Not shure if I overlooked it, but it seems we never saw any backside? Are there lights?
Would like to see to have an idea.

Thanks,
Kurt.

No lights on the ones for sale, I did put some small round lights, with battery power on the one i built for myself. Just not enough money in the ones for sale, but you can totally customize them when you get it home. thanks JEFF

try using bug side molding for deluxe trim.

Keeby Swaggz Fri May 13, 2011 4:14 pm

perhaps little round reflectors for tail lights??? so they look like the old tail lights??? and I might suggest usin' an air nibbler to put some air ducts on the rear sides, quick and cool... otherwise, these are sick...

So, When will the first pedal car be built? You do great work by the way!

One more on its way to Penn, Thanks John. This was a fun one to build, hell of a nice guy. Well all the buyers have been really cool, sending me after photos of the wagons in use. Pretty good friends with a few of them..

You never know when you need seat belts, This one had a drop floor for added room, and a early bus shiftknob for pulling power....

I forgot to post Julio's bus too. He got it a few months ago,
Thanks guys for all your buisness, Now i think i will take a break for a few months and work on my own stuff.....
