Hi Everyone,
Here's are some photos of my 72 Super. I've owned this bug for 14 years, and driven it to alot of places. It's going to undergo restoration in the next couple of years. I learned all my mechanical skills by working on this car. Here are some of the "fun" adventures I had with it

1995 Rear wheel came off while driving 75mph and lived to tell about it
1996 I was driving from WY to CA with my friend from Germany and part way had points burn on me.
1997 Lent the car to a Friend and she overheated it
2000 Engine rebuilt by a factory VW mechnic (Jay). He worked at the VW factory back in Germany in the 50's. very colorful guy.

Bought my 65 in 2005 cause I killed my Volvo 240 GL and had always loved the simplicity of a VW bug. Later that year was on my way to work from school (running late, again) when I threw a bearing. Borrowed my brothers Isuzu rodeo while I saved up the money to buy a new motor for it. Bought the new motor, a 1600. I didnt want to grind out the bellhousing for the 12 volt flywheel so I stuck on a 6 volt from the 1200. Ended up destroying the crank and leaking a lot of oil. Got the motor rebuilt, mind you this was a rebuilt engine, and then ground out the bellhousing for it. A few months of driving went by when my tranny mounts went out and I replaced them. Two weeks went by of drivng and I put dual carbs on it. A month later, my tranny mounts went out again. I replaced them and then a month after that my tranny itself went out. After some long and hard searching, I purchased a 67 tranny for it (I liked that it had a 12 volt bellhousing) replaced everything and then the brakes went out. Last April I joined the Marine Corps and the bug was taken to Merced, CA to a friends shop where my Fiance at the time was going to restore it but ended up not. And low and behold, the 65 still sits with a new motor, tranny, and tires in Ca and here in NC I bought a 68 that needs a little help. Not too uch though.
