I have a set of those wheels. What are they?
I think they were putting them on 914's at one point.
Need some help from the pros.
They are an 8 spoke alloy.
Were they actually used on the 914s? |

Here is a pic of the wheels that were on a car we drug home. Like yours, only 4 lug.
I'd like to learn more about them, because they are strong and light.
With the right center cap, then polished or powder coated... they'd be very cool.

Thats what I always thought. The 4 lug wheels were never a factory item, maybe some dealers installed them, but no VW or Porsche left the factory with those wheels. |

This guy claims that he has 4 lug Rally with Dan Gurney LTD on the back.
Seems like he is pretty sure what he is selling. The pictures are 4 lug????
Here is his ad.
looking to clear out my garage and would like these rims to goto
a good home. I had them on my 914 and sold it without the wheels since i liked them so much. Now I have a 911 and no 914 /in the future I need to clear up some space.
They Have Dan Gurney LTD stamped on the back. Minor rash and scraps but they arent bent etc. I'm sure Al Reed could make them look better than ever.
$300.00 ??? O.B.O. I'm just guessing here. So I im to high or too low let me know!
Thanks In Advance

I have a set being sent as I type. Can you post pictures of the lug nuts that work with the "Rally" aluminum wheels or do you have a picture. Any pictures of the Gurney Wheels you have with the center caps installed? |

Whoa. Wait a minute.
Those appear to be stamped steel. So were the Gurney wheels steel and/or alloy?

| Thanks for the pictures. The lugs look like they are flat and not tapered on the back side. Are most screw in studs long enough for the thickness of the rim. I got mine in and there were several differences from how the wheels were listed. He said 2 wheels were wider and gave the widths as 6 and 7 inches for the front and rear. (I kind of knew that was more than likely an error and one of the wheels had a crack.) $270 delivered from AZ to Richmond VA. It was an OK deal. They have been a very easy clean up and polish. I will post before and after. Again thanks for the pictures. |

From this to this in about six + hours.
I am going to go over the wheels again and then do a finish polish.
One wheel still needs some more work before I go over it. I ran out of time yesterday. I think it was worth the effort.
All of them 90% done.

Can you measure from the inside mounting surface to a straight edge on
the inside lip of the rim :?: I want to compare them to the 2.0. They
are 15" x 5.5" wide and the backspace is 4-5/8" or 40mm offset. |

Two things are obviously different between the Western wheel and the Dan Gurney.
The valve stem hole is lined up with the spoke on the Western, and lined up with a window on the Gurney.
Also, the Western has four small holes for mounting a center cap. The Gurney doesn't.
