If you could see the other 3 wheels they don't have center cap mounting holes. They also have a different casting on the back of the wheel. It looks like there may have been an allowance for drilling a different pattern out of the same casting. Other that that they look the same. I guess it is like a company having a private label put on a generic item? If Western made them for Dan Gurney and also made their own, the castings on the slots, spokes, wheel construction are the exact same patterns. Is there really that much of a difference? I don't think it would make the wheels have much of a difference in value. The wheels would not go from $300 a set to $500 in the same condition, one being Western or Gurney. It seems the only thing that maybe true is that there were 5 and 4 lug pattern Gurney Wheels, maybe not 5 lug Western, but that claim has not been made. My 4 lug don't have a casting with a name or ID on any of the wheels. In one of the open lug areas there seems to be a small casting mark on 2 of the 4 wheels, maybe a trademark?

i have a set of 4 lug ATS wheels and 1 pair has the valve stem between the spokes and the other pair are in the spokes. i bought them all at the same time, same place so maybe it just depended on who was drilling the holes the day they were made. same could go for the gurney wheels

I just picked up a set of these, and they are NOT Dan Gurney's.
They have the Words" Hand Engineering" cast into the back of them. They also have their own custom wheels weights that actually bolt into the backside of the spokes. 15 X 5.5"

I saw a set on a vanagon at Winter Jam in Daytona last weekend. VERY good looking wheels. I have a set in 4 lug I'll be running on my 72 bug before too long.
