Sorry for the crappy picture. I swiped it from a magazine. Does anyone know anything about this car? It is awesome in my opinion and I would like to know a lot more about it. I have been thinking about building a Heb coupe and I like the lines of this car a lot better than the original. The magazine says the owner/builder is Jaime Baron and I believe he's from Florida. Is he a member here? I sure would like more info and pictures!

Pretty sure it is this one that was built in Finland and sold to US a couple of years ago.
I'll dig up some more pictures right away.
Here it was discussed way back then.

You can ask the previous owner, maybe he knows?

Since it isn't authentic anyways, couldn't you just have one built? |

Wouldn't be surprised either if the new owner would have done some mods to it since it came to US.
There were some parts that could have been improved. Such as a minor "chop" of the doorframes and the driprails as it looks on the first picture. and the decklid does look similar at the tip but different up where the roofline starts.
Sure it can be an other one too. If so I still wonder where the Finnish one dissappeared as it is now 3 years since it went to the USA...? |

| the one pictured in the first post isnt really a heb clone if you look at it. It looks more like a lead sled/50's custom interpretation. It is very well done as far as design and workmanship. My uncle met the guy that owns it. Supposedly he has a huge shop in Bradenton Florida and has quite a vw collection. I believe I've heard he built that car. Not sure if its true or not though. |

| I knew you would know something about it Hebster! :D Any other pics you might have would be very much appreciated. I am actually going to build something very similar but with an Oval as a base. Kind of if Hebmuller had continued to build cars, what would one have looked like in say 1956. Of course assuming they would have offered a coupe. |

| After closer examination, I don't think the car you pictured Hebster is it. The magazine says the car is based on a 54. Your picture has the front quarter vents so it's a 52 correct? Also the roof and rear section are different. The picture I originally posted is kinda fuzzy so the details don't show well. But the car was made from several cars and it appears they used a roof section for the rear from a donor 51 (stated in the caption in the magazine) So it has drip rails. The car also does not have a rear deck below the window like Hebsters pic. The rear decklid goes up to the rear window as one piece. With a very small deck below the window. About a quarter of the size of Hebsters pic. If anyone is interested, the picture I have is from the April 08 HVW's. The mystery goes on........ |

Wow, this just gets better! I was just browsing the gallery and found this pic. I am 99.99% sure this is the car. All the lines are the same as the magazine car. The rear deck is the same. Anyone know anything about it?
Plus the poster of the photo says it was taken at a show in Florida. It all fits. |

Rich50's loved it the moment he saw it posted by me in the abortion thread.... well he was not joking..
i just don't like the lateral air scoops... just look cheap and not for a classic vintage split... hebmuller solved the problem way better with the rear air intake grill . |

I think I see some Jensen 6x9s in the back panels.
Actually, I think the detail on teh back decklid is pretty cool. Nice metal work. But the overall "concept" is not my thing. Does not respect the lines of the split (nor heb).... |

Not the same car unless it was totally redone.
I acually like the unfinished car that I assume is the same one as in the video. It is much closer to the Heb coup.
The red one is just plane fugly IMO. The lines are all wrong. Why they made the rear "hood" go all the way up is beyond me.
It looks like a typical Florida abortion. No offense meant to anyone living in Florida, but you have to admit, there seems to be a very high percentage of abortions coming out of that state.
I wonder how heavy that rear "hood" is. I bet it is heavily braced so it won't twist when you open it. Either that or it is flimsy and just waiting to crack. |

Completely agree. The unfinished example seems to show both design and fabrication skill which is a rare pairing, the lines are much more refined. But its also hard to tell from the angle shots, there are no true side view shots to determine how balanced the design truly is.
Even from the angle shots on the finished red Heb you can tell the flow/ lines on the car are really disrupted by its clunky hunchback rear end, plus the added rear hood ornamentals only add to the problem, and I don't see any metalsmithing talent at all either in that hood, just gimmicky stuff.
Generally when you see things well designed, even at a custom fab shop, there about 50-100+ concept drawings done up front to test the lines of a car from which patterns are made and tested. Fabricators generally skip this step almost entirely. Few designers get it right though, even full teams of so-called designers. Chip Foose is one of the best examples of how some of the best custom designs become realized, his design/illustration skills nearly alone are what his talented fabricators use, and generally this formula works when you let folks do what they are best at. |

just make your own!

I gotta put my hand up I think its a stunning car  8)
Where the rear 'bonnet' meets the roof needs work, the finish one is better here, air scooping would of been nice from underneath but otherwise a stunner |
