If I was to change the wheel color, I would be deciding between one of two options:
Automotive body paint (take it to a body shop, should be cheap)
Or
Appliance paint. (It doesn't bend enough to justify the plastic paint in my opinion. )
Then again, what do I know, I learn the hard way sometimes.
:D :D

For the horn button, I will be using anything glossy I can find to match the wierd color.

5 hours of driving each way....

Stayed at the Speakeasy Inn right on Duval St. I left the bus in the same spot all weekend! Only cost me a $25 ticket for the convenience. :)

The rumheads donwstairs told me it was the most photographed thing on the street, every few minutes people would stop by to take pictures beside it. We took bicycles and rode them everywhere...

Cool pretty sure I saw ur bus around KW.

That is awesome!!! I guarantee there aren't any SUV's out there that you could put a washer and dryer in.

I have an SUV, and a Pontiac Montana minivan with removeable seats, and neither could carry not even one due to the height.

The bus made loading and unloading by myself soooo easy, it practically fell out unto the hand truck....

Hi Don, always check out your link. I was thinking on the exhaust for the dryer and the inverter for them.

BIG alternator :D

Not much going on.
Bus has been just sitting in the garage waiting for an oil change, and used as parts storage while I worked on the Mexican Beetle that I just sold.

Heading home from a cruise, I noticed smoke behind me.
Pulled over and tried to pull the handbrake, it was locked solid, not even one click.
Shut the engine off and checked the engine bay just to be sure, clean.
Passenger rear tire was SMOKING....wheel was hot to the touch.

After some roadside support from my friends, and spending a long time trying to get the cotter pin out, found the problem.
(Good thing I had one of these:)

(Could not have taken the drum off at the side of the road without it.)

>>All the bearing cap bolts came out, and were dancing around in the drum.
The brake pads were separated from the backing plate and both springs, parts, and bolts were roaming free inside the drum.

Backing plate was separated from axle slightly.

Roadside solution was to put a vice grip on the soft brake line, and take out all brake parts, put the drum and wheel back on and drive home....

Lots of miles since I last changed the swing axle seals, so not sure why the bearing cap bolts went on Summer vacation.

need some new parts....

custom tools are always handy, these work good too for the axle nuts

4 sure....carry in the bus too. That's where I may need it the most!

I just got a $17 bottle jack to carry under the seat too, cuz messing with that scissor jack was just as frustrating as trying to get the stupid cotter pin out at the side of the road.
Have to start travelling with one jack stand too! I was lucky I had the Porsche wheels inside to help hold up the bus while I lowered the swing axle!!!

About a month ago I got tired of the failed safari seals I had flopping around when I opened the safaris. I also had a broken latch....
So I went crazy for a little

First the latch:
Screws were rusted on, so I had to get them out....

Used this funky gator screw extractor

Working it

Found some foam tape in the garage... better than nothing.
