we have German seals from OEVeeDub that we got last year. They also have a "German" EU one that isn't as good. The German ones Richard sold us are for pratical purposes 100% identical to the ones that came off. The doors closed firm for 24 hours then they closes perfect if the window is down a little. Almost a year later they are perfect. I highly recommend them. Our doors can be closed easily and they sit flush with the body.
The brazilian ones we tried first felt like loading a speargun everytime the door was closed. |

| I just installed a pair from MidAmerica Motor Works. They are really thick, and I have to really work to shut the doors, to the point where my mirror spins loose. But no complaints, it really does seal it up nicely. |

| ours from Richard at OeVeeDub were the same as the original - thickness etc. Really suggest if you want the same ones call Richard. Ron at BusDepot said he has the same style to as an upgrade. |

| German is the only way to go.Brazilian rubber is total garbage. It will not fit nor will it last. Some will say otherwise. My original german door seals were still tit.I bought the front door seals from bus depot when they had the real ones, maybe they still do.All the other rubber was bought from Richard at OEVEEDUB.Do not waste your time.Good luck |

A couple points of clarification here:
1) There is only one German seal. It is the one that OEVeedub sells for $77 and we sell for $59. The "EEU" or "UK" one that OEVeedub lists is actually the OEM VW/Brazil seal, which we sell too. (It comes from the UK but it's not made there; we label it according to actual country of origin rather than where we bought it.) That seal is by far the best of the non-German door seals (some of which are practically useless), but not as good as the real thing (as might be expected for only $19).
2) We sell two versions of Front Door Seal Kits - one with the OEM German door seal for $149.95, one with the OEM Brazilian one for $109.95. In both cases, the other included seals are the same - virtually 100% OEM VW seals, and excellent quality. You can spend more (a lot more!) but you are unlikely to find better quality anywhere.

I was contemplating changing seals on my 69 Westy, but decided to POR-15 the lower portion of the inside door, and clean-up and paint the edges of the exterior. I also have some dog-leg rust that will get extra-special treatment but fortunately, it's not blown-thru, so I'll just make sure the water has a place to drain to.
I agree, having to slam a 40+ year old door is not wise, and can only lead to additional up-stream problems; IMHO |

| I purchased every single piece of weatherstrip, seals, everything made for a bus thru busdepot. The only seals I'm not happy with are the front door seals they are brazilian, I can't stand slammimg my doors. All other seals etc. I have no complaints. |

hello,
when you buy original german seals, they should be labeled as vewib.
They are exactly the ones that were factory fitted. You canŽt go better.
Often factory fitted mexican and brazilian seals are sold as OEM, genuie VW and so on but you always will have troubles with them. In my opinion, all those aftermarket stuff is a waste of money. Ask for vewib, pay a few bucks extra and youŽll be fine.
