Thanks for the updates! This car truly excites me! This is the first time I've been on the samba in a couple of months and this is still the first thread I check. Awesome build.

Thanks Man, we just got back to updating the build here as well.
I'll try to stay on top of it this time.

Regardless, beautiful job on the build, and I'm looking forward to the updates. Especially the paint!

Just open the hood. Nobody will ever look at the roll cage if the hood is open! :)

Hello again everyone. I to post the web site for the MiMod HP touch screen. Most of you have been watching this product come to life over the past 2 years as I build the Ghia. Check it out and if you have any questions please let me know. Thank you.

IF this were a race car with a real chance of ending up on its top there might be reason to worry but that isn't the case here.

I'm all ears. What's the point of a roll cage if it is not for safety or rigidity?

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse. The point of my last post was just to show that there is logical basis for some of the negative comments expressed in this thread.

That's easy, The cage stiffens the chassis and stops twist. This is a huge consideration in our build. The roll cage may not pass NHRA rules, but that dosen't mean it's useless. Cheers.

But a badly designed roll cage does not prevent twist or stiffen the chassis as well as a properly designed roll cage. So if that's a huge concern for this build, you're making a bit of a mistake there. Not only that, but when someone who understands roll cage construction looks at the car, they'll peg it as a "street cage" right away.

Regardless, beautiful job on the build, and I'm looking forward to the updates. Especially the paint!

Thomas Must be a government bureaucrat w/clipboard & pocket protector or just Need someone New to bash since jimsmilin is in Afghanistan.

That said, I would put some proper wheels/tires on it to show Thomas some proper Time Slips autocrossing like he does! 8)

I went ahead and deleted my comments due to people's complaints. I have a valid opinion about the roll cage, and I didn't think I was being that negative or "bashing", but I'll just stay out of it.

Good luck!

Hi Thomas

Just so you know, I'm o.k with people having their own opinion. You said some very nice as well Tom. I have no hard feelings at all. I hope you continue to follow the build.
Thanks
Jamie

Hey Guys

Talked to Dennis at "Specialty Body and Paint" about the Ghia today. She's pretty much done from the cowl back. I will have some pics up in the next week or so. Progess is still being made. Stay tuned.

P.S: We now have the BODII applictaion and Wifi for the MiMod HP completed.

The onboard engine Tuning option is in the works.

any updates?

oldskool7_11 Sun Apr 24, 2011 10:03 am

from the volksrod thread.

Well, the unthinkable has happened. It looks like the Ghia is up for sale for someone to finish. Long story short.....
Dean was in a bad accident years ago and broke his neck and back. He was never suppose to make it. Ever since he has been on a huge amount of pain killers and they have killed his liver. HE has been in and out of the hospital for the past few weeks. He went into a comma at one time for days. Needless to say he is very sick and looks like he will not be able to complete the build. I would like to get the mu personal cash out of the build. AS you all know there is well over $125,000 into this build. I am letting it go to the best offer over $30,000....I have 35,000 into the motor alone.

Thank you for all your support and kind words on this site. Everyone here has treated us with respect. Thank you.

That sucks....that really sucks. Sorry to hear that.

Sucks for the car too, it is probably now going to end up in the 'abrotions' thread....

While I am not a fan of V10s, it could just as well be 'dumbed' down to a V8 or the like.

If I had the cash laying around collecting dust I would buy it....all I can add is that it sucks to be poor.

cdennisg Mon Apr 25, 2011 9:30 am

Damn. Hope he pulls through. It would be cool to see that car finished by somebody, too.

Fish Mon Apr 25, 2011 12:04 pm

Bummer. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
