As some of you know I've been making the bed slats and bows for split window trucks for a while now, but due to continuing interest from bay window owners I'd like to start making those as well. I'm looking for discussion and/or confirmation on some key details. things like:
-fastener type (still blind rivets like later splits?)
-are long slats bevel cut on both ends or square at the cab wall and beveled at the back? (I know of a couple OG 67 single cabs with bevels on both ends, just wondering if this carried on into bay windows or if this was a 67 only thing)
-I've read someplace that VW reduced the number of slats at some point, but I can't remember. Any info?
If course discussion is welcome, but ideally you'll have an OG truck with everything still attached. If there are any additional differences that I'm not aware of please post it. I'd like to get it right the first time. Thanks everyone! |

| Cool, unfortunately all my trucks have long lost their slats, but the blind rivets are still there so I can confirm that aspect. Let me know if you need spacing counts, AFAIK it's every second dip. |

| thanks guys. I've got the right rivets already, but the change in number of slats is interesting. VW must have really been trying to save some money! It looks like in the picture of ratwells DC that the ends of the slats at the cab are square, or am I just imagining that? That bit of info will be the last piece I need before I can commit to cutting up the thousands of feet of ash I have waiting in the shop. Thanks for the help everyone! |

I talked with some company about 2 years ago that sent me photos of their products..Well I can't remember who it was to save my ass.
I am looking for new mfg. sheet metal that matches the bed metal on the single cab truck.
If anyone knows who is doing this, please contact me.
Thanks
Joseph
