Hello! I have an 60 1600s (75hp) that misses the Alternator, fan and fan housing.
Is it possible to take an 36hp beetle alternator, with fan and fanhousing?
I want 6volt insted of 12 volt.
Does any one know if this is possible.

| Yes, a 36hp GENERATOR, fan, and backing plate will fit. The regulator mounts on the generator, unlike Porsche. You must use the Porsche pully set-up. |

Ok, thanks, but the linkage that is on the 2 carb 356, is missing on the 36hp engine.
What to do then? |

| I said generator, fan, and backing plate will fit. NOT the fan housing! You will need a 356 or 912 fan shroud (housing)- and linkage, appearently. A picture might be helpful to see what you are missing. |

I have a 6 volt regulator for an alternator. It is used with a VW alternator wired for an external regulator. Let me know if you would like one. Wayne at 408 842-4232 in Gilroy, CA
I also sell a BOSCH 356 HYBRID 6/12 starter, which mounts in 6 volt transmission with a 6 V flywheel and 6 V bushing. It is used in the 356 & 356A, up to 1959, model number SR21X. No modifications are necessary to install this 12 V starter in a 6 V transmission with a 6 V flywheel.
When you convert your 356 form 6 V to 12 V you can replace your starter with the BOSCH 356 HYBRID 6/12. This remanufactured starter has all the mechanical dimensions of a 6 V starter with internal components modified to operate on 12 V.
