ops, seems it has been a while since I updated.

I have actually worked quite a bit to get the engine to run well, and after changing most of the ignition system, it now runs on all 4. I need to get it on the road for some 30 min test drive, in order to collect enough data for the EFI to be tuned correctly, so I started by getting the brakes to work. A friend of mine had borrowed the master brake cylinder, so I had to get a new one from my local supplier, and that is now in place. I am experiencing some problems achieving pressure in the front ciscuit, so I will need to work a bit more on that.

Other than that, I have been busy with work and family stuff lately, so progress is slower than I was hoping for a while back. I had 45 people visiting for a garden party last weekend, so that also took some focus :)

But now it seems most of my domestic duties are under control, so I will be able to work on the car again the coming weeks.

a few hours spent again last night, and the brakes are now in order, and the front windscreen is in. I also decided to add some padding and vinyl on the shelf below the rear window before I installed the rear window, as it is a lot easier to do that in that particular order...

This means that I can actually go to the local DOT station and get a pair of temporary plates, and take it for a longer test run in order to tune the EFI. Cant wait. Now we have 33 degreesC in the shadow and daylight until 1130 pm, so it is a perfect time for cruising :)

Now the only thing I wonder, was whether it was such a good idea to install the window into the car first, then the chrome molding...

The chrome is supposed to be installed first. Looks like you'll be cussing and removing it all now after all of that work to install the glass.

this is not cal-look rubber, and I will be using the chrome....

So what's the deal? Is it IMPOSSIBLE to install the chrome now, or just plain difficult?

Considering that it only took us about 30 mins to install the windshield, maybe I would be better off taking it out again...

On the plus side - your technique is rock solid.

I have only used the cal rubber.

im on dial up and the pics are not real clear. it looks like cal rubber here. sorry. :oops:

sorry, i just looked at your pics again and seen at the bottom where you said you were using the chrome trim.

OK, one looooong afternoon spent, and I now have to admit that mounting the chrome in the rubber first is the way to go... I started on the rear window, and even with the window on the bench, it is a real pain to get the chrome to seat properly...

so once my friend can give me a hand again, the windshield comes out (hopefully in one piece) and the chrome goes on :)

I also finished the rear parcel shelf, and replaced the padding on the C-pillars, as my wife did not approve the results from my first trial...

More updates:

I decided to have a look at my carpet kit, and started out to trial fit all the pieces. And in the front of the car, all seems ok:

But turning my attention to the area around/under the rear seat, I ran into some problems...

First of all, isn't this piece supposed to cover the full width of the crossmember under the rear seat?


Then it is the part that lies on the shelf in the above picture, is that supposed to cover the shelf???

Another problem is just at the bottom od the B-pillar... The carpet piece that runs along the heater channel seems to be too short. I now placed it such that it barely covers the piece on the dogleg at the front, but as can bee seen in the next picture, it does not cover the part at the bottom of the B-pillar...


Then finally, it's this piece, and the simple question is where does it go???:

One more question...

Isn't it so that there should be a piece of vinyl draftstopping so-called windlace between the carpet and steel along this edge? Does it simply glue in between the carpet and the body?

And finally, in order not to end this work-session on a low, I mounted a rear quarter window, and laid the rear window in place, with its chrome moulding partly fitted, just to have a feeling that things do indeed move in the right direction...

looks like you have a CV carpet set could be why the rear compartment parts don't fit.
