grelland wrote: One more question...

Isn't it so that there should be a piece of vinyl draftstopping so-called windlace between the carpet and steel along this edge? Does it simply glue in between the carpet and the body?

Wind lace glues to the body and had a metal u channel that screwed over it, the carpet was glued to the side and the edge fitted into this u channel, you can just see the white of this channel in the pic below

Thanks a million, are these wind laces, or the channels for that matter, available still?

I was thinking maybe I could make the laces out of the same vinyl I will be using on the seats, therefore I may need only the channels

There were no such things in my car before I tore it down...

I think you might get the channel from someone in here or you could have a couple made up at a metal shop or do it yourself, a lot of the cars lost these during restoration or from rust. As for the wind lace you can buy the inner rubber or I make these or I can sell you the inner ruber and you can cover them, contact me [email protected] .

Original metal channels for the windlace
area are still available.
Just send me a PM for details.

Those are them and AFIK, they are the same for all year Ghias. I've been stashing them as I've been planning to reproduce them as I start to learn metal shaping. They appear simple to make.

By lookin at the picture you have the wrong seal the one on the pic is to thick and does not look like the correct seal. The sale is thinner and is more like a spunge type material than the thick rubber seal that is used on the deck lid. I am fairly confident you have the wrong seal

thanks, that is clarifying, and you are right the kit is for a convertible...

But Mike got back to me already yesterday and confirmed that he would send me the parts that are coupe specific, so that's what I call customer service :)

Roy,

I have the channels. I can send a pair with the carpet. I can send the windlace as well. It will be used, but would be good for patterning the new ones. Let me know if you want them.
