I need New Cargo Floors for my 1967 bus

I understand that there are 3 manufactures of floors

One primes there panels Black
One is primed RED
One is primed green

Is that correct?

I understand the Green ones are the thickest and the most accurate
but not in stalk

What is the next best floor?

Sit back, have a Dr. Pepper, and wait for the green ones. You will be much happier in the long run....

I bought a black cargo floor half from C.I.P., some seven years ago, for about $95 and it was pretty good. They only had one so I bought one of those ruddy-colored cargo floor halves for the other side from W.W. and the sheet metal was thinner (remember that it was seven years ago). They went in my 1958 walk-thru camper so I don't know about mounting seats to them.
Later, I bought a set of black cargo floor halves from C.I.P. and they are going in my 1958 walk-thru kombi or my 1957 bus. I wish that I had bought one more set.

My problem is that Wolfsburg’s west is saying that the red ones are thicker and of better quality

a friend of mine that has installed several sets over the years is saying that the black ones are thicker and of better quality than the red ones .

My concern is that they have changed enough that maybe the red ones are now better than the black ones.

In fairness, no, I have not installed a Gerson floor, however, I have seen them and held them in my hands and they are beautiful, accurate, heavy pieces. I recently had a Gerson dogleg installed on my '65 deluxe and the fit was perfect.

I had such bad luck with W.W.s aftermarket bus panels, i.e., the infamous grinning corner panel; two right outer rockers that were too short and one that had not nearly enough curvurture; two right side outer cargo floor sections that were way off and I had to return them; two right rear lower rocker panels (the short ones) that were three-eighths of an inch too short; and the thin cargo floor half, I began buying all of my more complicated panels from Rocky Mtn. Motorworks and C.I.P., some years ago. I don't know about W.W.s other panels, but I have read that their cargo floor halves are a better quality than their old ones, which might not be saying much.
I don't know who made the three black cargo floor halves that I bought from C.I.P., years ago. Were they made in Denmark? The sheet metal is much thicker than the ruddy-colored pieces of shit, and I do like their quality, but I don't know if they are even available, anymore.

It sounds like the best bet is still Gerson Green panels

How long does it usuly take to get the panels .

Am I looking at a month or two?

This floor we can have for you in about a week and a half....we just go a HUGE run on cargo floors... remember we make these by hand, we make these year specific, no generic crap here, these are year/model correct, 18 gauge cold rolled steel floors, you can weld the crap out of these, you can stand 20 people on top of these and will not flinch, these weigh 62 pounds per set...and, in the end , if you do not like them, you get your money back..... :wink: :wink: :wink: :D :D :D

That bus deserves Green. I have some on the way in 2 1/2 weeks.

I had a set of Generic black cargo floors at BBB so people could compare them to the green floors,it's day and night difference

Use the Gerson panels, they are worth the wait. Klassic Fab floors fit and the pressings are in the right places. Check the sequence below.

Another vote for Gerson . It's also nice to be able to talk with the guy who made your part and knows busses in and out . Gerson hand made a panel for Me that He didn't have in production yet ! Can't beat that .

I bought the red ones from CIP's new years blowout. they seem to fit okay, but the edges were bent up during shipping. they were stuck in canada forever for some reason ,but finally got here. haven't got them 100% fitted yet, but first tries work quite well. shouldn't be too much work. I still have some cutting of the old spot welds and such to get it ready.

Neil, you left out the step where the thinner aftermarket (red?) floors were installed, and then removed, to put in the proper green floors.

Oh yeah - those cheap floors sucked so bad that we replaced them before we even put primer on the bus. So it cost me a few bucks - it is only money and I can make more.
