Funny you should ask, I have plans to finish running the electrical starting Monday which should facilitate some assembly of lights and gauges.
I dropped off my chrome headlight rings and swan neck mirror to the plating company yesterday to have them de-chromed so I can take them over to the powder coating guy along with the nostril grills, they should all match the roll hoops and rims after being sprayed.
I will be out of town for a few weeks the first of August till the 16th but I will try to get some pics up of progress after that. 8)
Also, I would like to install the windshield (windscreen for those across the pond) but am thinking it would be much easier to put a dash pad in first, any ideas on what to do with the dash? Should I just leave it metal or put in a pad? Any suggestions will be appreciated even if they suck and are stupid.

I'd say go with a metal dash. Since you've done all the metal work so far, I think that would add to the look you are after. I switched my 67 to a metal dash and made my own panel to fill the speaker hole and loved the way it looked. The only drawback was the glare from the dash back up onto the winshield. I learned to live with it. |

Nice, I like that advice (cheaper and easier for one thing) I do have mounting holes where the pad used to be and I have the vents for defogging the windshield (although I shaved off the lip so they are flush with the dash) should I just throw some type of plug in them? fill them and repaint the dash? Any other idea? |

Here's a shot of my dash just after the car was 'finished'. If you've already shaved the lip off the openings, I'd say go ahead and fill them. Without the lip, it would just look like a couple big holes in the dash.

Ahhh, you had to ask eh, Seth? Summer from hell, moved twice (nightmare), haven't done much on the car, did get the wiring done and some bits and pieces de-chromed for powder coating but no pics, I have it garaged about 45 mins away and haven't had much extra time to break away but I will try to get a photo of what has been done next time I'm there.... |
